Synopsis:
Yè – Echoes Beyond Time, is a luminous embodiment of this season's theme: "Yè" described as a radiant light passed from the past into our present. Set as an evocative double bill "Ah Ma" (Grandma), created by Creative Director Benedict Soh, reflects a tender ode to grandmothers and the silent women who kept families alive from within the home. Followed by, "Cut: Through Shadows and Light", choreographed by Artistic Director Neo Jenny, immerses audiences in a dreamlike journey through the craft of Chinese paper cutting, where memory, gesture, and forgotten artisans come to life.
Though different in subject, both works honour Unsung Heroes — those whose names may not be written in history, yet their impact lives on in our language, rituals and hands. They are the ones who built, shaped, and nurtured — not for praise, but for continuity. As the character "烨" suggests, their light is not loud, but enduring.
In this double tribute, we remember them not only with dance, but with gratitude — inviting audiences to witness how tradition and contemporary expression intertwine in a shared cultural narrative.
