Synopsis:

Voices of Myth is a live guzheng performance by Mohamed Faizal Mohamed Salim, presented within the exhibition Hidden in the Jungle. Inspired by mythological animal figures—dragons, phoenix, Garuda, and Naga—the performance treats these beings as quiet, listening presences.

Blending the ancient Chinese zither with Malay, Middle Eastern, and Western influences, the music unfolds gently, creating a calm, reflective atmosphere. Visitors are invited to pause and listen as myths speak softly through sound.

Mohamed Faizal Mohamed Salim is Singapore's first Malay full-time guzheng player.

About the Exhibition
Hidden in the Jungle is based on Inessa Kalabekova's PhD research and explores myth and cultural memory through layered collage and painting. The works feature mythological animals—dragon, phoenix, Garuda, griffin, Sarimanok, Naga, Foo Dog–Lion, and Hamsa—inviting slow, intuitive looking.
