Synopsis:

Your pain changed you.
But it didn't break you.
You've become something new.

Directed by Beverly Yuen, After Rain, We Breathe is a physical theatre performance that explores the lived experience of pain—emotional, physical, and unseen. It traces a body's journey through trauma, resistance, and gradual healing.

Drawing on real-life stories, the performance honours the messiness of injury recovery—the setbacks, pauses, and small triumphs. With humour and visceral physicality, it asks: What does healing look like when pain never fully goes away? A quiet reminder to keep moving, keep breathing, and even to laugh.

An interdisciplinary collaboration, the performance integrates scientific concepts such as pain perception and rehabilitation into the arts.

Creative collaboration includes Wendy Ng, APA Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, who serves as Consultant in Pain Science & Embodied Movement.

Director/Playwright: Beverly Yuen
Performers: Damien Ng, Elaine Siow, Kaelen Ong, Matthew Martin, Tan Yong Hong, Beverly Yuen
