Synopsis:
TICKLE! is a solo exhibition by Indonesian artist Popok Tri Wahyudi, exploring societal norms, human interaction, and the complexities of criticism. Popok reflects on his environment, where silence often prevails, and open criticism is discouraged to maintain social harmony. However, this silence undermines honest dialogue and interaction.
Through raffia string embroidery works, Popok challenges these societal norms, using his unique visual language to highlight the importance of expressing and resolving criticism. His art serves as a mirror, inviting introspection and dialogue about openness, respect, and growth. TICKLE! is a critique and a call to action for embracing honest communication.
