Synopsis:
Maya Gallery presents Tranquil Essence, the fourth solo show of Singapore-based artist Jaleela Niaz. The exhibition showcases an impressive display of 40 mesmerising mixed media painting inspired by motifs of nature and Islamic Calligraphy. The selection, including 22 brand new pieces made especially for this exhibition, is emblematic of Jaleela Niaz's unique artistic style, characterised by the layering of intricate patterns and motifs with gold glass paint and silver acrylic marker set against a vibrant coloured acrylic-painted background. From oceanic corals and terrestrial bamboos to Islamic expressions, visitors are invited to embark on an intimate journey to explore the aesthetic and emotional richness of the works, and discover how the artist gracefully navigates the tension between the real and abstract, and the tangible and intangible.
