Synopsis:

2022 is the 100th death anniversary of the great French novelist Marcel Proust. Known for his seven-volume novel À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time) that features countless references to composers before and of his time – it was in fact at the Parisian music salon of Princesse de Polignac where avant-garde premieres of living French composers were heard – that much of Proust's musical education took place.

Join us in a special reminiscence of this Parisian salon and its music that inspired Proust's vignettes of Debussy, Fauré, Satie and Ravel in the most respected novel of the twentieth century ! Visit https://www.chambermusicarts.com.sg/2022/03/thesalon-23-24-apr-2022/ for more details ~

Concerts for Children
The Toys of Claude-Emma's Playroom
10am 24 Apr 2022 for ages 0-6 (40 mins)
Debussy wrote and dedicated his Children's Corner, a six-part piano suite to his three year old daughter 'Chou-Chou' starring a few of her favourite toys ! On this morning, let's meet the toys of Claude-Emma's playroom ~ a clumsy elephant, a gentle porcelain doll and a little shepherd !

Friendships and War
12noon 24 Apr 2022 for ages 6-12 (50 mins)
Friendships can be lost and gained in war. Ravel wrote his Le Tombeau de Couperin as a memorial to seven of his friends who died fighting in World War I. Debussy wrote his Les soirs illuminés par l'ardeur du charbon as a gift for his musical coal merchant who had moved scarce fuel to his home during the harsh wartime winter of 1917. Join us for a morning of learning and reflection !
