Synopsis:

Presented by Librarians Lee Meiyu and Seow Peck Ngiam, this talk explores the war experiences of the Singapore Chinese community during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore (1942–1945) through the collections of the National Library.

Join them as they uncover materials that provide insight into the economic, cultural and social evolution of Singapore Chinese during this tumultuous time.

About the Librarians
Lee Meiyu is a Senior Librarian with the Singapore and Southeast Asia collections in the National Library Singapore. Her research interest lies in the Singapore Chinese community. She is the writer behind the 2012 exhibition guide "Money by Mail to China: Dreams and Struggles of Early Migrants" and is also a regular contributor to the library's magazine "BiblioAsia".

Seow Peck Ngiam is a Senior Librarian with the Singapore and Southeast Asia collections in the National Library Singapore. She contributes to the selection of Chinese Collections, which includes donor collections. Her research interest is in the Singapore Chinese Community.
