Organised by: M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2021: Quiet RiotPerformed by: Ay! Caramba Theatre (Canada | Ecuador)
Synopsis:
I, Frida is a funny, warm, and heartfelt story about a newcomer's journey to Canada, and her attempts at trying to fit into Canadian culture.
Written and performed by Yulissa Campos, I, Frida portrays a young activist's fight for immigrants' rights, while struggling with segregation, stereotypes, and her own traditions.
She feels like an outsider, despite the best intentions of those around her, until she finds inspiration from the two heroines in her life—her mother, and Frida Kahlo!
I, Frida will take you on a journey full of sabor Latino (Latin flavour) to discover the meaning of family, home, culture, and identity, in a time where the world is struggling with unprecedented numbers of forced migration.
