Synopsis:

PAssionArts Festival 2020, the nationwide community arts festival now in its ninth year, is centred on portraying diversity and cohesiveness to creatively showcase the uniqueness of Singapore's community art.

Some 20 visual and performing arts programmes, under the festival theme of #HarmoniousArtCity, will engage families and connect communities together from now till January 2021.

One example is the 'The Creature + Feature' art installation at 61 Teban Gardens where more than 150 residents from Ayer Rajah and Gek Poh Ville Community Clubs co-created the art project with visual artist Ryf Zaini. Through a combination of virtual and physical workshops, this installation, which showcases the story of mythical creatures that once lived in Singapore, is now on display now until 8 January next year and will then be presented at 72 Bendemeer Road until end March 2021.

Tampines Central Arts XChange is another programme organised under the PAssionArts Festival and each episode in the six-part series aims to introduce two diverse art forms with the intention of bringing them closer to the community. This programme will be on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/tampinescentralcc.

Mr. Patrick Sim, Director of Community Arts & Culture at People's Association, said: "PAssionArts' #HarmoniousArtCity is the latest expression of building cohesive communities in the heartlands through arts. The pandemic has caused the Singapore social context and landscape to change dramatically. Beyond this, our focus remains on inspiring residents and artists from diverse background."
