Synopsis:

Experimental band The Observatory, filmmaker Eric Lee, and music groups from the migrant-worker community were starting to collaborate on SOURCE × Audible Lands, a film and-music performance, when circuit-breaker measures kicked in. From 25 May, these budding encounters will be presented through 5 teaser videos, released fortnightly.

Containing a range of folk to pop to devotional music, deeply influenced by South and Southeast Asian traditions, these humane documentations provide a glimpse into Singapore's diverse and discrete musical landscape.

Coming together to play Thai country music is the Isan Band, whose members mostly hail from Thailand's north-east region. The band formed under the Chomrom Samakkee Thai Klai Baan (United Overseas Thai Society in Singapore), which was founded in 2004 at Golden Mile Complex.

Performing at Songkran and Loy Krathong festivals, especially at the Wat Ananda Metyarama Thai Buddhist Temple, Isan Band's strain of morlam and luk thung music fuses traditional and modern instrumentation, and has been handed down over three generations of migrants.
