Synopsis:

** This event is cancelled. **

The word "geometry" comes from the ancient Greek word of γεωμετρία, with "geo" referring to the earth, and "-metron" referring to "measurement". Through geometry, architecture, physics, mathematics and philosophy come together to create art so awe-inspiring it reflects the Universe. Islamic geometric designs are not simply beautiful accidents.

Islamic artists use traditional methods of measurement to craft dazzling geometric compositions, often based upon repeating a single pattern into a mosaic of tessellation. In many ways, it reflects the meditative and contemplative spirit of Islamic artisans seeking to connect with the Divine One.

Get inspired by geometric designs from some of the most famous and beautiful Islamic architecture and art including the Great Mosques of Cordoba, Damascus and Isfahan, the Christian Capella Palatina and more to kickstart your journey to master this art. Be a part of the renaissance of this cultural heritage and create your own intricate patterns or recreate classic examples using traditional methods. Regardless of your faith, through this hands-on exploration, we look forward to a better appreciation of the interconnections between mathematics, art and spirituality.

Best for youth and adult learners. Children aged 10 and above are welcomed.
