Synopsis:

MINDFUL PHOTOGRAPHY
A photowalk incorporating mindfulness and photography for creative self-expression and use in daily life

Course Description
In this photowalk held at the Botanic Gardens, participants will be introduced to the practice of mindfulness by an experienced professional, practise techniques they can use in daily life, and will apply its concepts to photography. Participants are to bring their own cameras they are comfortable with. Smartphones are suitable too.

Instructors
Richard Koh has been practising photography professionally since 2003, and was formerly an engineer. He has been sought after for meaningful and authentic photographs for corporate and editorial purposes. His photographs have been exhibited and won awards internationally. Teo Kai Lin is a mindfulness practitioner. She obtained a Master of Arts in Contemplative Education in 2010 and a Certificate in Mindful Educator Essentials in 2017. SHe was an associate lecturer for nine years with a polytechnic and has spent more than 17 years in the public service and social sector. She is interested in how we can live with greater presence and compassion in our lives, and cultivating mental, social and emotional well being, especially in young adults.

The workshop will meet at and dismiss from the Botanic Gardens. The exact meeting point will be communicated to registered participants closer to the workshop date.

Pre-requisites:
None. Participants are to bring their own cameras they are comfortable with. Smartphones are suitable too.

Please note
This outdoor workshop will proceed rain or shine. Participants are advised to come attired for accordingly (eg with an umbrella and a cap) and to bring drinking water and snacks as you wish. The workshop will entail walking around the gardens so you may wish to carry minimal personal belongings.
