Synopsis:
A joint collaboration between musicians from Singapore and Berlin, this concert features musicians from the Konzerthaus Berlin Audience Orchestra, the National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble. Hailing from Berlin, the Konzerthaus Berlin Audience Orchestra is a community orchestra that consists of passionate individuals who are brought together by their love of music, under the batonship of Dirk Wucherpfennig.
The NUS Symphony Orchestra, a member of the NUS Centre for the Arts, is made up of student musicians from NUS with conductor Lim Soon Lee. Be enthralled by a variety of classical and contemporary orchestra repertoire, including the sublime Mahler's Symphony No.1, Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations featuring local talent Lau Yun Xi and Albert Ginastera's spell-binding Estancia Suite.
The award-winning Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble under the music direction of Axel Jacob will also be performing a carefully curated selection of percussion ensemble music. Highlights include David R. Gillingham's dramatic work, Angels of the Apocalypse and Satoshi Yagisawa's Dithyrambos. Having rehearsed and performed together in Berlin earlier this month, this concert will be the culmination of their collective efforts.
