Synopsis:

This art talk aims to introduce audience to one of the founders of the Nanyang art movement, Chen Wen Hsi. Born 1907 in Guangdong, China, the artist's influence on many 2nd generation and present-day Singapore artists is prevalent. Our talk will track the different periods and aesthetic styles in Chen Wen Hsi's career and his significant contribution to Singapore's modern art scene. The following topics will be covered:

1. Brief introduction to Chen Wen Hsi's life
2. Introduction to Chen Wen Hsi's western paintings
3. Introduction to Chen Wen Hsi's ink paintings
