Synopsis:

Once again, in the season of Merdeka (Independence), Causeway Exchange brings together an entertaining – and interesting – array of films to the Singapore audience. Interesting because of their subtle connection to the unprecedented political changes recently in Malaysia. Over the last decade, the country's filmmakers, both veterans and newcomers, have raised questions and expressed their misgivings as to the (unnatural) direction that the country had been taking. And in the proposed panel discussion rounding up this year's film screenings, the invited directors might be elaborating and expounding on this.

We hope you will like this selection of parody, action, drama, horror and the supernatural, with their themes of marginalization, search for identity and belonging, as well as nostalgia. Enjoy.

Merdeka!
