Synopsis:

Movement for Actors by Lim Chin Huat
16 June 2018, Saturday, 10am – 1pm
This workshop will focus on building fundamental skills in body movement for theatre training and practical application, giving participants a taste of movement training at ITI.

The workshop will begin with guidance in body conditioning which is tailored to address the demands of ITI training in traditional art forms. Participants will also explore applying these skills to movement, incorporating elements like the use of space, time and energy.

Demystifying the Voice: Knowledge is Power by Simon Stollery
23 June 2018, Saturday, 1pm – 5pm

Ever been told to "support your voice", "speak from your diaphragm" or "free your voice" but found the advice confusing? Have you ever thought there must be a more straightforward and reliable approach to using your voice well? Well, there is.

This workshop aims to demystify and simplify the process of achieving an expressive and efficient speaking voice through a practical exploration of basic vocal function. Participants will explore how a little understanding can go a long way! Participants will also have the opportunity to apply the voice work to text and acting, with concise feedback on how to continue to improve their voice.

Advanced Acting Workshop by Beto Ruiz
(Encounter with Otherness: Physical Action)
7 & 14 July 2018, Saturday, 1pm – 5pm

This 2-day intensive workshop is designed for actors who seek to deepen their technique and be exposed to a range of different approaches adapted from ITI's unique programme.

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to methods that open up creative possibilities that the actor cannot discover alone. They will also learn how to use physical actions to emanate their internal self using external expressions. This will enable them to link different aspects of performance: concentration, relaxation, imagination, control and delivery.

The workshop will cover:
Path of the Action: Perception, Reception, Affectation and Reaction
Animality
Preverbal expression
Transitive actions
