Synopsis:

A Walked Line Can Never Be Erased features documentation of and artistic responses to the following events that Amanda Heng presented as part of M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2018: Let's Walk.

Amanda embarked on the durational live performance I Walk from the South to the North in September 2017, which saw her travelling alone on foot from Clifford Pier to the Causeway checkpoint in Woodlands. This solo walk continued Amanda's interest in rituals, exchanges and their relationship with live performance in daily life.

Almost 20 years after the original Let's Walk in 1999, Amanda invited members of the public to join her in the participatory performance Let's Walk in January 2018, where participants walked backwards from The Substation to the Merlion Park on bare feet, guided by hand-held mirrors (and now, mobile phones in the camera selfie mode).

In addition, Amanda conducted a Walking Workshop from October 2017 with student-participants from art and design institutions, where they created their own works in response to the walks.
