Synopsis:

The Angkatan Pelukis Aneka Daya (APAD) is organizing an art exhibition entitled Kontemporari 2017. A visual arts exhibition showcasing the works of Singapore Malay Artists.

Background
The Contemporary series of exhibition is an annual art exhibition by APAD (Founded 1962). The objective is to showcase the works of members and to promote art to the masses. It also creates an opportunity for artists to interact and inspire one another despite the age difference or varied genre of work within the APAD fraternity. This year onwards, we are making it more inclusive and is open to participation by non-members of APAD.

This exhibition retains the award component to inspire greater art-practice. Artworks on display will be judged by participating artists. Awards will be presented at the opening ceremony to the deserving winners for first to third place 'Best of Show' awards. An exhibition catalogue featuring selected work and artist's particulars will be produced. The exhibition catalogue will be also published online at www.apad.org.sg. There can be up to three guest artists subject to the discretion of the organising committee.

Theme
This exhibition is a survey of Malay artists practicing in Singapore. There is no specific theme to adhere. Artworks will be selected based on artistic merit by the organizing committee.

This is an event for the general public, thus we advice participants to present quality works-of-art that inspire and educate the public and be considerate to the sensitivity of the general audience. All artworks must be properly framed for display. Three-dimensional or installation work must come with display pedestal.

Sales
The other objective is to raise funds for the association and encourage art acquisition. Works on display are for sale. Sales commission of 30% will go to APAD. Works on display if sold cannot be removed until after the exhibition ended. Self-collect by buyer at end of exhibition otherwise artist to bear delivery/handling cost.

There will be a 'Box-sale' category for works on paper. Full size or smaller work mounted on board measuring 12 x 16 inches (30cm x 40cm). Priced below $200 (including 30% sales commission). Box-sale work is a cash-and-carry item and need not wait till end of show for collection. Participants can submit as many works for sale and there is no fee for this category. No framed work, stretcher or 3D objects. Organiser reserve the right of selection.
