Synopsis:

Join us on 9 November for a modest showcase of 4 proposals for a future arts centre by advanced arts management students from the Singapore Management University (SMU).

Through a pitching session and outdoor exhibition, students will share their conceptual and strategic plans for a future arts centre in Singapore. They will present their vision, operative model and SWOT analysis of their respective proposals, which range from an online resource platform to a repurposed space for independent music.

The concept of a "future arts centre" is used as a guiding framework to unearth fresh perspectives on needs, challenges and opportunities facing the arts ecosystem in Singapore, and a catalyst for conversation on the evolving meanings, functions and value systems of arts spaces, institutions and centres.

This showcase is a student-led effort to contribute to the continuous mapping of the conditions of artistic and cultural production in Singapore. It aspires to provide a glimpse, so as to provide an opportunity to identify its current state and possibly determine the projections for its future.

Come and enjoy an evening of stimulating conversation, which will include a pitching session, an outdoor exhibition, refreshments and live music programmed entirely by the students!
