Synopsis:
9 Rangkaian Tari Melayu is a collection of choreographic works that were developed from the Serampang 12 series, each with a philosophical narrative and refined techniques that represent the customs and standards of elegance and sophistication in Malay culture. Serampang 12 (Dua Belas) is a traditional Malay dance created by Guru Sauti, a dance pioneer from North Sumatra in the 1940s. This presentation will examine the techniques presented in each choreography and how it relates back to the philosophy of the Malay culture.
