Synopsis:
The SHINE Youth Festival is back! This year’s festival celebrates the theme of ‘Aspirations’, and features an exciting line up of events and activities for the entire Youth month of July. Both local and international performances will be featured during the festival, starting with the SHINE Festival Opening on 30 June! Come join us in events ranging from cosplay, music concerts, dance competitions to flea markets and magic shows, and ‘Fire Up Your Passion’ in the month of July!

SHINE Festival Opening
30 June 2012
Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza

Kick-start the Youth month of July with a bang at the SHINE Festival Opening! Take part in the Cosmo Youth Parade and party with our stars at the Dell-Intel Youth Concert in the evening, which will feature performances by Jayesslee, Jack & Rai, Clarence Liew, and many more! The day’s events will begin at 2pm – be prepared to Fire Up Your Passion!

SHINE Festival Closing
26 & 28 – 29 July 2012
*SCAPE, Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Vivocity

Look forward to concerts such as The Big Groove, starringNIGHT and D’J Party on the special closing weekend celebrations to celebrate the end of the SHINE Youth Festival 2012! The official closing ceremony will also take place on 26 July, where this year’s Stars of SHINE winners will be announced.

Cosmo Youth Parade 2012

The super colourful Cosmo Youth Parade 2012 by Mascot Parade Limited promises to set Singapore’s most bustling shopping district ablaze with excitement! Get ready as Orchard Road pulsates with the marching, stomping, hip-hopping beat of hundreds of youths, volunteers and the young-at-heart to thrill the crowd with awesome cosplay and fabulous mascot designs. Be there to cheer for your favourite Super Heroes and Villains from Comics, Manga, Games and other hit series!

Luminance!

Bask in the radiance of creative and imaginative light art works at Singapore’s inaugural Light Art Festival, Luminance!. Featuring the works of established and aspiring local and overseas talent, this unique arts festival could just electrify the artist in you!

Life.Body.Existence
7 July – 10 July 2012, 11.00AM – 6.00PM

Both curated and featuring works by youth, Life • Body • Existence is an art exhibition that aims to draw parallels between art, human values and social issues. Audience members will be immersed into the visceral and sensitive realities of youths through a smorgasbord of artworks with varying mediums such as installation, mixed media, video, photography and sculpture. Focusing on the essence of being a young adult in Singapore, sub-themes of Identity, Future, Habits, Escapism and Body Image that are largely pertinent and relevant to youths will be explored upon by various up and coming young artists from Very Special Arts, LASALLE College of Art and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts among many others.

Project Dreamcatchers – “Dream. Hope. Inspire.”

Goodman Arts Centre, Gallery (Blk B #01-08)
Dreamcatchers is a creative visual arts exhibition featuring artworks by chronic illness patients depicting the theme of aspirations. The art pieces will be made using medical items and equipment, and presented in a mix of photography and paintings. The project hopes to inspire fellow youth, be it youth with chronic illnesses or without, and highlight that there is so much that can be achieved if they dare to dream. The exhibition aims to underscore the central messaging that chronic illnesses are not disabling, and will showcase youth talents while creating public awareness about childhood chronic illness.

All ‘AMPED’ Up – Street Graffiti Competition

The Singapore Street Festival’s Street Graffiti Competition is back this year, with the theme ‘ALL AMPED UP’! Catch this year’s shortlisted finalists in action as they unleash their creativity and paint their amazing Street Art to the design theme of ‘Typography Amplified! Back to the ol’skool wildstyles and burners’.
