Kitakyushu Biennial in Singapore
Part II – BEACHES
Monday, 23 April – Sunday, 13 May 2012
Beaches is the second part of the exhibition, which features a fresh, experimental and collaborative work between the two artists. This new, site-specific multimedia installation piece explores the unseen borders of Singapore and the oft-temperamental swirling waters which surround it. Produced specially for the Kitakyushu Biennial, this piece is part of their long-term collaboration since 2005.
Beaches uncloaks the seaborne perspective of an unseen observer slowly meandering with the ebb of the Singapore tide. This work also explores voyeuristic views of Singapore’s seemingly calm borders and delivers a frank, insightful peek into a rarely seen side of this island nation.
This work is also a chaser to the upcoming PART III of the Kitakyushu Biennial in Singapore that begins on Monday, 14 May to Sunday, 27 May 2012.
