Synopsis:

How can a photographer translate a 3-dimensional structure into a 2- dimensional image? This workshop is designed for aspiring architectural photographers who wish to capture exteriors of fine structures and buildings. Topics covered include the photographer's methodology, equipment and aesthetic approaches. Participants will go on two guided field shoots – one in the day and one at night – to have hands-on practice photographing under different lighting situations with photographer Wolfgang Bellwinkel.

Pre-requisites: *Participants need a DSLR and a tripod for this workshop. Basic Photography or equivalent.

About Wolfgang Bellwinkel
Wolfgang Bellwinkel lives in Berlin and Bangkok.

After completing his studies at Folkwang School of Art in Essen/Germany in the early 90' he began to work as a photographer for magazines and companies.

Beside his commercial work he has been engaged for various projects in Germany and Europe. In 1994 he published the book Bosnia dealing with the war in former Yugoslavia. For the past 15 years, he has focused on Asia.

In 2005, Bellwinkel finished his documentary film Weg, which premiered at the Bangkok Film Festival. His most recent book, No Land Called Home, was published in 2013.

Bellwinkel has taught at universities in Germany, Singapore (Ngee Ann Poly) and Thailand. He has also conducted workshops all over Asia, under the Goethe Institut.

His work has been shown in many solo and group exhibitions. They include the Pinakothek der Moderne (Munich), Berlinische Galerie (Berlin), Museum voor Fotografie (Antwerp), Daelim Art Museum (Seoul), Bangkok Art and Cultural Center (Bangkok). This year, his project Yangon Backstage will be shown at the Singapore International Photography Festival.
